UFC 300: Holly Holm-Miesha Tate Rematch Not Likely

Holly Holm

According to Holly Holm’s manager, plans to pair the former champion with Miesha Tate appear unlikely for UFC 300.

Holm, who had a no-contest with Mayra Bueno Silva earlier this year, has been targeting the epic event in April for her return. And it seemed as if Tate would make an ideal opponent.

“She wants nothing to do with Holly,” Holm’s manager, Lenny Fresquez told MMA Junkie. “She’s turned down the fight three times already. We are looking for someone tougher.

“We are hopeful we will be on UFC 300. No opponents have been brought up yet.”

Back in 2016, Tate earned a fifth-round submission victory at UFC 196 over Holm to secure the women’s bantamweight title. The bout was a landmark one for the veteran and women’s MMA at the time.

Tate scored a submission win earlier this month over Julia Avila to improve to 20-9.

The 42-year-old Holm is 15-6 overall and 3-1 with the no-contest since a loss to Amanda Nunes for the title in 2019. She scored decision wins over Raquel Pennington, Irene Aldana and Yana Santos around a split decision loss to Ketlen Vieira.
