Conor McGregor Announces UFC Return For June 29 Fight

Conor McGregor has decided to announce his return to the UFC.

The former lightweight and featherweight champion stated on social media that he will face Michael Chandler at a June 29 UFC event. McGregor added that the fight will take place at 185 pounds between the two former Ultimate Fighter coaches.

“Ladies and gentlemen, a Happy New Year to you all,” McGregor said. “I’d like to announce the return date for myself, the ‘Notorious’ Conor McGregor, the greatest comeback of all time will take place in Las Vegas for International Fight Week, June the 29th.

“And the opponent, Michael Chandler. And the weight, Mr. Chandler, 185 pounds.”

Nothing official has come from the promotion regarding the bout, which has been delayed for several months. The two competed on TUF earlier this year and were scheduled to meet multiple times since.

McGregor has not fought since a 2021 loss to Dustin Poirier that saw him suffer a serious leg injury.

McGregor will indeed take on Chandler during his return. The 37-year-old former Bellator champion is also coming off a loss to Poirier and is just 1-3 over his last four fights.

He holds a record of 23-8 overall with wins vs. Tony Ferguson, Benson Henderson and Dan Hooker.
