UFC Heavyweight Walt Harris Hit With Year-Long Suspension

UFC heavyweight Walt Harris was handed a year-long suspension by the Nevada Athletic Commission.

Harris was found to have tested positive for drostanolone, an illegal anabolic agent, in out-of-competition testing. The tests were for a planned July fight with Josh Parisian that was eventually called off.

The suspension is retroactive to the date of the failed drug test, which will allow Harris to compete again on June 24, 2024. He must pay almost $400 in attorney fees and is required to underdog more testing three, 15 and 30 days out from his next scheduled fight.

Back in July, Harris released a statement in which he said “I believe this came from a supplement that I’ve trusted my entire career, but at the end of the day, it was never USADA approved.”

“I’m a complete idiot for not checking prior but I’m definitely not a cheater,” he added.

The 40-year-old Harris has lost his last three fights, all of which have come by finish. His last win was in 2019 when he knocked out Aleksei Olenik to earn a “Performance of the Night” bonus.

Overall, Harris is 13-10 in his career, which started in the UFC in 2013 with back-to-back losses.
