Thanh Le capped off ONE Fight Night 15 with a victory over Ilya Freymanov to claim the interim featherweight title.
The event aired live on Prime Video from the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Le’s underrated grappling skills played a pivotal role in the bout. After a brief exchange on the feet, Freymanov attempted to take Le down. In response, The Vietnamese-American rolled into a leg entanglement and quickly secured a heel hook.
Despite Freymanov’s efforts to break free, Le maintained a strong grip, ultimately forcing his Russian opponent to tap a little over a minute into the first round.
Le and current champion Tang Kai squared off after the match, setting up a future unification bout between the two.
Jonathan Di Bella defended his kickboxing title with a decision win over Danial Williams and Mikey Musumeci topped Shinya Aoki via submission in a special grappling match.
Joshua Pacio downed Mansur Malachiev and Zhang Lipeng topped Timofey Nastyukhin via TKO in other featured bouts.
