UFC 295 will see Jon Jones defend his heavyweight championship against former titleholder Stipe Miocic. Another former UFC heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou, recently offered up his thoughts on the collision.

Francis Ngannou was asked how he sees the upcoming UFC 295 heavyweight title fight between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic playing out.

“I put 50-50 on that fight,” Ngannou said (thanks to MMA Junkie for the quotes). “I fought Stipe twice, and I know Stipe is pretty good. I know he doesn’t look like it, but I know how tough he is.

“I know how good he is. I know very well.”

Ngannou lost the first meeting with Miocic and won the rematch, taking back the heavyweight title in the process. That had him on a collision course with Jones, a former UFC light heavyweight champion, before leaving the promotion.

Now, Ngannou is signed to the PFL and set to meet heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury inside the ring later this year. That fight is set for October 28 in Riyadhi, Saudi Arabia and scheduled for 10 rounds.

As for the prospects of fighting Jones, Ngannou has moved on.

“I don’t feel like I need, I feel like I want,” he said. “I want – it’s not a need.”

Earlier this year, Jones made his heavyweight debut, besting Ciryl Gane to claim the vacant title. This will be his first defense of that belt after holding the light heavyweight championship for several years.
