In one of the six championship matches set for PFL 10, also known as PFL Championships, Magomed Magomedkerimov and Sadibou Sy will meet. That fight takes place in the welterweight division live on ESPN and ESPN+ from The Anthem in Washington, D.C.

Both Magomedkerimov and Sy are former champions, with Magomedkerimov scoring gold in 2018 and Sy doing the same last season.

Along with this contest, Olivier Aubin-Mercier meets Clay Collard, Jesus Pinedo squares off with Gabriel Alves Braga, Josh Silveira tangles with Impa Kasanganay, Renen Ferreira fights Denis Goltsov and Larissa Pacheco takes on Marina Mokhnatkina.

Here is a closer look at the Magomedkerimov and Sy contest:

PFL 10: Magomed Magomedkerimov

Outside of a 2021 loss to Ray Cooper III, nobody has bested Magomedkerimov since 2015, a run that covers 18 wins including the 2018 PFL title. He also reached the finals in ’21 before falling to Cooper where he bested none other than Sy in the semifinals by decision to advance.

After losing to Vitaly Bigdash in Russiah eight years ago, Magomedkerimov headed to the United States, competing once for the World Series of Fighting before they became the PFL. He earned a win over Bobby Cooper and would go on to score his title with a submission victory over Cooper in 2018.

Fighters such as John Howard, Chris Curtis, Curtis Millender and Gleison Tibau have all fallen victim to Magomedkerimov.

In 2022, he downed Dilano Taylor and Tibau before taking the 2023 season by storm with back-to-back first round finishes of Ben Egli and David Zawada.

This past August, he downed Solomon Renfro to advance to another finals and get another crack at the ultimate prize.

PFL 10: Sadibou Sy

The 36-year-old from Sweden has been on a roll since losing to Magomedkerimov in the 2021 semifinals, reeling off seven consecutive wins.

One during that stretch really put him on the map, as he downed Rory MacDonald in 2022 via decision. That was part of the season-long tournament that saw Sy top Dilano Taylor for the title.

He also bested Carlos Leal in the semifinals that year, winning that by decision as well.

In 2023, Sy has become a finisher, stopping Jarrah Al-Silawi in the second round and doing the same to Shane Mitchell in the third. He connected with a highlight-reel spinning wheel kick on Mitchell, advancing to the semifinals where he downed Leal for a second time in as many years.

Sy has called PFL his home since 2018 after competing in his home country of Sweden for the first three years of his career.
