UFC Results: Big-Time Win For Vicente Luque On ESPN

Vicente Luque took a giant step forward in the welterweight rankings at UFC on ESPN 51 Saturday night.

From the Apex in Las Vegas, Luque scored a decision victory over former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos. The 31-year-old from New Jersey improved to 22-9-1 and snapped a tough two-fight losing skid in the process.

Luque is now 5-2 over his last seven, including wins over former champions dos Anjos and Tyron Woodley. Dos Anjos fell to 32-15 and is 3-2 over his last five fights as the veteran continues to try and secure his place in the division.

Cub Swanson picked up his first win since 2021 with a victory in his return to featherweight over Hakeem Dawodu. Swanson swept the scorecards for his 29th career victory.

Khalil Rountree Earns First Round Finish

Khalil Rountree Jr. finished off Chris Daukaus in the first round of their light heavyweight contest, stretching his current win streak to four straight. He is now 12-5 with a no-contest in his career.

Iasmin Lucindo, A.J. Dobson and Josh Fremd all earned wins to round out the main card, with Lucindo picking up a second round submission with an arm-triangle choke vs. Polyana Viana.

Prelims Feature Seven Finishes In All

All seven of the prelim bouts ended before the final bell, including the main event between Marcus McGhee and JP Buys. McGhee knocked Buys out midway through the opening round of action.

Terrance McKinney, Isaac Dulgarian, Jaquelin Amorim and Luana Santos were all winners via strikes, with Martin Buday and Da’Mon Blackshear earning submission victories.

Blackshear’s win marked just the third twister submission finish in UFC history.

Rountree, Lucindo, McGhee and Blackshear each picked up a “Performance of the Night” bonus.

What Is Next

The Octagon heads to Boston for UFC 292 with Aljamain Sterling defending his bantamweight title against Sean O’Malley.

That is just one of two championship matches set, as Zhang Weili puts her strawweight belt on the line vs. Amanda Lemons.

Other fights include the return of Chris Weidman, as the former champion battles Brad Tavares, Ian Machado Garry vs. Neil Magny and the finals in The Ultimate Fighter: Team McGregor vs. Team Chandler with Austin Hubbard battling Kurt Holobaugh.

As always, we will have complete UFC results from the night.
