UFC 292: Brad Katona Makes History With Second TUF Win

Brad Katona downed Cody Gibson at UFC 292 Saturday night, claiming a second title from The Ultimate Fighter.

Five years ago, Katona won Season 26 while competing at featherweight. This time, he accomplished the feat in the bantamweight division as Season 31 wrapped up.

The other winner of The Ultimate Fighter, which featured Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler, also saw Kurt Holobaugh claim a title.

“I remember watching the first season of The Ultimate Fighter when I was 14 years old, just getting started in the sport,” Katona said (thanks to MMA Junkie for the quotes). “To be making history and winning it for a second time, that’s special.

“This isn’t the end goal. It’s another step on the way. Obviously, I’m going to be very proud of this and soak it in. But after that, this is not what I want to just hang my hat on.”

Katona, who trains out of SBG Ireland in Dublin with John Kavanagh, is a frequent training partner of McGregor.

After his first run in the UFC came to an end, Katona signed with Brave FC and went 4-0, winning the bantamweight title.

“This isn’t the end of the road,” Katona said. “I’m eyeing that bantamweight title. That’s what we’re working toward. That’s where we’re living every day.

“It feels good to be back. I’ve had a smile on my face all day. There was very little nerves. I’m at home here. This is where I should have been all along and I think I proved that.”
