UFC To Celebrate With Noche Event

Alexa Grasso will get the chance to headline and represent her country when the UFC honors Mexican Independence Day with Noche UFC.

Set for September 16, Grasso will defend her flyweight title against former champion Valentina Shevchenko in a rematch. The card also features Kelvin Gastelum taking on Shavkat Rakhmonov.

“Mexican fans are some of the biggest and most passionate fans in all of combat sports,” said UFC president Dana White. “For years, I’ve wanted to truly honor their love for the athletes and the sport by bringing an incredible UFC event with Mexican athletes.

“It’s happening this year and we are bringing a massive Mexican card to Las Vegas on Mexican Independence Day. This card will be headlined by our Mexican champion in an insane rematch and it will be stacked from top to bottom with the best Mexican athletes in the world.

“Let me tell you something – I cannot wait for this event!”

The entire card will stream live on ESPN+.

Alexa Grasso Looks To Secure Her Championship Status

Grasso, who is 16-3 overall, will be making her first title defense after stunning Shevchenko to claim the title earlier this year. The former champion, who is 23-4 overall, has bested the likes of Jessica Andrade and Lauren Murphy during her career.

Rakhmonov is a perfect 17-0 and has finished Neil Magny, Geoff Neal and Carlston Harris in recent fights, while Gastelum (17-8) is a former winner on The Ultimate Fighter and holds wins vs. Michael Bisping and Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza to his resume.

Some of the other fighters announced for the event include Anthony Hernandez, Loopy Godinez, Edgard Chariez, Cynthia Calvillo and Tracy Cortez.
