Terence Crawford Finishes Errol Spence Jr.
Terence Crawford is the undisputed welterweight boxing champion of the world. And there is no doubt about it.
Crawford remained unbeaten, stopping Errol Spence Jr. in the ninth round of their fight Saturday night inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The finish came at the 2:32 mark of the round live on Showtime pay-per-view.
With the win, Crawford became the WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO and The Ring champion. The 35-year-old from Omaha, Nebraska is now 40-0 in his career with 31 of those wins coming by finish.
He entered as the reigning WBO champion, having defended the title this past December with a victory over David Avanesyan. With wins over Shawn Porter and Kell Brook also on his resume, this was supposed to be his toughest fight to date.
Spence, who came in with the WBC, IBF and WBA belts, had stopped Yordenis Ugas and also bested Danny Garcia, Porter and Mikey Garcia in recent years. He was unbeaten over 28 fights, but no match for Crawford.
