The playoff matchups for the PFL’s upcoming event in San Antonio have been finalized. The 2023 playoffs will begin on August 4 with featherweights and light heavyweights live on ESPN.
2023 PFL Playoffs Set For San Antonio
The first round of the 2023 PFL playoffs in San Antonio will feature featherweights and light heavyweights. The postseason begins on August 4 from the Boeing Center at Tech Point in Texas live on ESPN.
Bubba Jenkins, the top seed at featherweight, will take on Jesus Pinedo, while No. 1 seed Josh Silveira battles Ty Flores at light heavyweight.
“We are excited to kick off the 2023 PFL Playoffs in San Antonio at the Boeing Center at Tech Port,” said President of Fighter Operations Ray Sefo. “This is what that the athletes have worked for all season, a Playoff opportunity and the chance to advance to the World Championship.”
Former Champion Also In Featherweight Field
The 2021 featherweight winner, Movlid Khaybulaev, will meet Gabriel Braga in the other semifinal. Both Braga and Khaybulaev posted unbeaten marks during the recent regular season.
In the other light heavyweight semifinal, Marthin Hamlet gets Impa Kasanganay. Both are hoping to advance to the finals for the first time.
The remaining weight classes will take place in New York City later in August when the promotion visits Madison Square Garden.
Along with those two fights cards on August 18 and August 23, the league also heads back overseas on July 8 with PFL Europe 2.
PFL 8 and PFL 9 will include bouts in the heavyweight, welterweight, lightweight and women’s featherweight divisions. Reigning champions Olivier Aubin-Mercier, Sadibou Sy and Larissa Pacheco are all scheduled for action.
Set from the Verti Music Hall in Berlin, Germany, lightweights and bantamweight will take to the SmartCage. Quarterfinal round bouts in both weight classes will be featured, along with the final bout in the opening round of the women’s flyweight division between Lorena Cubero and Griet Eeckhout.
