PFL 6 Results: Lightweight, Welterweight Tourney Fields Set

PFL

The final two tournaments for the 2023 PFL season have been set, as the semifinalists in the lightweight and welterweight divisions were determined at PFL 6. Check out complete results from the event below.

PFL 6 Results: Semifinals Set For Lightweights

Reigning lightweight champion Olivier Aubin-Mercier will be back to defend his title, punching one of four tickets to the semifinals at PFL 6. Aubin-Mercier will be joined by Clay Collard, Natan Schulte and Bruno Miranda.

In the main event live on ESPN, Aubin-Mercier scored a third round finish vs. Anthony Romero. He connected with a knee, ending the fight 28 seconds into the round.

Collard finished Stevie Ray in the second round and both Schulte and Miranda picked up wins on the prelims via decision. Schulte is a former two-time champion of the division.

“The 2023 Regular Season saw non-stop action and remarkable performances across six weight classes that can only come in the PFL’s unique season format,” said CEO Peter Murray. “Congratulations to the great athletes that have earned places in the 2023 Playoffs.

“The 2023 Playoffs begin in San Antonio with our Featherweight and Light Heavyweight competitors putting it all on the line for a chance to compete for $1 million at the 2023 World Championship.”

Sadibou Sy Returning For Another Shot At $1 Million

Like Aubin-Mercier, the welterweight division will also feature a defending champion after Sadibou Sy punched his ticket. Magomed Magomedkerimov, Carlos Leal and Magomed Umalatov round out the four-man bracket.

Sy scored a third round knockout of Shane Mitchell in the co-main event when he landed a spinning wheel kick. Magomedkerimov also claimed a main card finish, stopping David Zawada.

Umalatov downed Nayib Lopez and Leal finished Dilano Taylor in the second round on the prelims.

Shane Burgos Wins, Fails To Advance

In one of the featured main card bouts, Shane Burgos picked up his first win with the promotion, but was unable to advance. He bested Yamato Nishikawa via decision, but needed a stoppage win to move on.

Solomon Renfro, Brahyan Zurcher and Abdullah Al-Qahtani were all winners via finish on the prelims.

“The athletes delivered yet another entertaining night of action as the final playoff berths were secured,” said President of Fighter Operations, Ray Sefo. “Congratulations to all of our athletes on a fantastic Regular Season.”

PFL Playoffs Begin This August

The semifinals in the PFL playoffs kick off this August from San Antonio. The first event is set for Friday, August 5 with featherweights and light heavyweights.

The final two playoff cards shift to New York City and the Theater at Madison Square Garden. Those nights will be Friday, August 18 and Wednesday, August 23. All three cards air live on ESPN Networks.
