If somehow you missed it, we can tell you about how Lacey Evans has a savage spat with Hall of Famer Sgt. Slaughter…and Slaughter’s daughter on Twitter.
All of this fun boiled up in the last couple days, following Evans sporting a familiar look on Friday’s SmackDown.
First, a bit of a recap.
Lacey Evans rose through the ranks rocking a Sassy Southern Belle gimmick down in NXT.
It worked for her on the main roster, but got fouled up during her work with Ric and Charlotte Flair.
Then, Evans was off television for good reasons. Though she gave some bad reasons, too.
When she came back, she was embracing her service history as a Marine, bringing that aspect of her real life to her character.
With it, she sported military themed gear, and even started using the Cobra Clutch as her finisher.
Now, on the most recent SmackDown, while she lost to Zelina Vega…she came down with a hat looking quite like a certain WWE Hall of Famer.
One Sgt. Slaughter.
And, neither the former WWF Champion, nor his daughter, took kindly to what they termed “gimmick theft”.

But, Lacey Evans has not gone quietly…
Some fans sided with Lacey Evans, because while the drill sergeant bit was Slaughter’s…only Evans actually served.
And, before those Lacey Evans boot camp vignettes aired, it was reported that WWE had asked Sgt. Slaughter to be involved with them, and he declined.
So, if I am reading between the lines a bit here…
WWE wanted her to be a female Slaughter homage of sorts-down to the attire and finisher.
Slaughter didn’t want that to happen, either too possessive of the gimmick, or the check from WWE was not big enough (perhaps both).
WWE, knowing that outside of respecting Sarge, didn’t need his permission to dress a Marine like a Marine…did it knowing he wanted no part in it.
And now…animosity abounds.
It will be interesting to see if the social media sparring takes a savage spat into the ring.
