WrestleMania 40 is months away, but that doesn’t mean the WWE isn’t already planning main-event matches. After all, the next one is sure to be a huge deal as the company is celebrating four decades of ‘Mania fun. More on this story, below.
WrestleMania 40 Main Event Match Leaked
According to WRKD Wrestling, a Twitter handle that offers wrestling spoilers, WWE has already discussed a possible main event match. Looks like there’s a good chance that GUNTHER versus Cody Rhodes, could happen.
The report notes that it’s “still early” but it does look like the face-off could be Monday Night RAW’s main event bout for next year’s WrestleMania. Only time will tell.
As per the report, both superstars are very interested in working together. Plus, Rhodes is currently seen as the top face of RAW, while GUNTHER is the top heel.
Cody and the Intercontinental Champion had quite the showdown during the 2023 Men’s Royal Rumble. Their exchange caught the attention of critics and fans alike.
Following this year’s draft, both talents were placed on the same WWE roster, making the Red brand their home. Both had very different WM experiences this year, too.
GUNTHER was successful in retaining his IC title winning his triple-threat match against Sheamus and Drew McIntyre. Meanwhile, Cody failed in his attempt to win the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, losing his match against Roman Reigns.
The outcome was a major disappointment for many fans. Perhaps Rhodes’s next WrestleMania in 2024 will prove to have a better outcome.
Regardless, the 40th anniversary of WWE’s flagship event takes place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It’ll be hosted at the Lincoln Financial Field.
As has been the case since the COVID-19 pandemic, WM XL will be a weekend event. Night One will unfold on Saturday, April 6th, while Night Two will happen on Sunday, April 7th, 2024.
