Nate Diaz-Jake Paul: Things Get Weird At Faceoff

Jake Paul Nate Diaz

Nate Diaz and Jake Paul had their first faceoff on Tuesday in Dallas, and the opponents made things interesting to say the least.

Nate Diaz-Jake Paul faceoff takes interesting turn

Later this year, Nate Diaz will make his professional boxing debut against Jake Paul. And on Tuesday, the two faced off with one another for the very first time.

While the event was far from the crazy show put on by Diaz and Conor McGregor in the past, it still offered some interesting moments.

Diaz appeared to leave at one point, only to return shortly after and face off with Paul. According to Ariel Helwani, who was moderating the affair, Diaz just needed a moment in the washroom.

Verbal jabs were tossed out by each other, and they playfully slapped at the arms of one another during the event.

Diaz also made it know that he felt the event was far from being anything other than sketchy at best.

Diaz-Paul takes place August 5 in Dallas

The bout is set for August 5 from the American Airlines Center in Dallas. It will air live on DAZN pay-per-view with both Diaz and Paul’s promotions co-promoting the fight.

The eight rounds will be contested in the cruiserweight division.

Paul is 6-1 as a pro with four of those wins coming by way of knockout, including victories over Anderson Silva, Tyron Woodley and Ben Askren. Diaz, meanwhile, won 21 matches in MMA and is 12 years older than Paul.

The only other fight announced to date will see Amanda Serrano defend her IBF, IBO, WBA, WBC and WBO featherweight titles against Heather Hardy.

So, will you purchase the fight?

One of the big questions this summer will be the buy rate for the Paul vs. Diaz card. Sure, more bouts will be added, and the actual price is yet to be announced, but are you planning on purchasing it?

As far as what else will be going on, WWE’s annual SummerSlam is scheduled for the same evening, and there will be Major League Baseball games. The NFL preseason will also have just kicked off a couple of days before, so there is likely to be games available.
