People come and go, and we have more on 1 AEW talent leaving the company.

Not every talent is a main event megastar. Every company, big and small, needs to have some very vital and popular people willing and able to do many things.

Like, those tasks that they can do, and many others can’t, won’t or don’t.

In wrestling, those who are willing to do all sorts of jobs make themselves valuable and give companies reasons to keep them around.

And by sticking around, they can work into getting a big break…sometimes.

Leva Bates was one of those unsung heroes. She worked for AEW in the ring and behind the scenes, and it seems like she made a positive impression on most she worked with.

And yet…her contract ran out and now she’s an AEW talent leaving the company. Or, left, really.

Talent have their contracts expire all the time. In most cases, there are negotiations to extend things.

Sometimes the negotiations work, sometimes they don’t.

In the case of Leva Bates, however, it seems like there weren’t any negotiations.

Her contract with AEW expired, and she didn’t even realize that it had.

All of this new detail comes courtesy of Fightful.

Bates issued a statement via her personal social media account, confirming her departure.

In an industry often defined by massive egos, she showed none.

As hard as she worked, as much as she did, she took her departure in stride.

If, as the accounts indicate, there wasn’t so much as a communication from AEW that her contract would not be renewed, it is mildly surprising.

Not that there wouldn’t be a renewal-those things happen, even if she was someone doing many roles.

That AEW would have a talent contract expire, without communicating their lack of interest to extend the relationship?

I find that a bit unexpected.
