It seems that UFC superstar Conor McGregor may have let slip possible plans for a summer matchup in WWE against their top star Roman Reigns.

There is a lot of crossover between the mixed martial arts and professional wrestling fan bases and it has been that way for years. But there have also been many top talents in those worlds that have switched industries over the last decade.

WWE greats like Brock Lesnar, CM Punk, Bobby Lashley, and Dave Batista made the jump into MMA with varying levels of success. While UFC stars and legends like Ronda Rousey, Matt Riddle, Shayna Bazler, and Ken Shamrock left cage fighting behind to make their way to the land of sports entertainment.

One superstar from the world of MMA that has often flirted with making an appearance in pro wrestling is former two-division UFC champion, Conor McGregor. He is the only fighter in company history to be allowed to compete in boxing while under contract, and with the two promotions now set to be merged under an all-new company, the possibilities of further crossover between WWE and UFC seem as likely as ever.

Conor McGregor hints at SummerSlam clash with Roman Reigns

On Wednesday, it seems that Conor McGregor might have let slip some actual plans in WWE during one of his random nighttime Tweet barrages that have since been deleted.

In recent weeks, Bloodline faction “Wise Man” Paul Heyman has poked at the Irishman a bit by claiming current champion Roman Reigns is the true king of all fight sports. It is something McGregor has pushed back against and did so again when he threatened to “suplex” Heyman the next time he sees him. He then followed that up with a tweet stating, “Summerslam I’ll pull in on the yacht. Roman and Paul out the bus [h/t MMAJunkie].”

At first glance, it could simply be seen as some friendly banter between two individuals involved in the same corporate structure. However, Conor McGregor’s decision to delete the tweets is quite interesting considering what he is willing to post and leave up forever for the world to read.

With the merger being close to finalized, the WWE’s long history of spectacle bouts with stars from other industries, and Roman Reigns having a highly entertaining match with YouTuber turned boxer, Logan Paul, last year, a Reigns vs. McGregor matchup should almost be expected at some point in the near future.
