It is just a mater of time now before CM Punk returns to AEW. With a new show called AEW Collision coming June 17, the company will look to possibly split their oversized roster; although that has been debated.
The idea is for Punk to make his return at the show, which comes from a place that he knows well, the United Center in Chicago. The idea is to keep Punk and The Elite on different shows to avoid any drama.
According to Fightful Select, Punk has been pitching the idea of working with Samoa Joe. Those two have plenty of history dating back to their time in Ring Of Honor.
Despite both being part of AEW, CM Punk vs. Samoa Joe is something that never materialized for that brand. But, that could change soon.
CM Punk Vs. Samoa Joe Might Not Be The Only Option
Chris Jericho was also mentioned as he and Punk recently settled their issues following a meeting. No word if either of those opponents for Punk would be one-off matches or long-term feuds.
Punk was suspended, along with others, following a backstage altercation after All Out. Basically, Punk ripped The Elite during the post-show media scrum and a brawl took place.
Mostly everyone has since returned, but not Punk. He was injured during his title win and required surgery. The return from surgery lasted longer than the actual suspension.
Joe has not completed for AEW since dropping the TNT Championship at Revolution in March. He still holds the ROH World Television Championship, but the company has produced few shows since Tony Khan purchased the promotion.
