What once might have seemed hard to expect might be possible…so is a big WCW reunion match happening?

In a word…maybe.

But…then again…maybe not.

What we do know are a few breadcrumbs, which if you put them all together, gives you a reason to think something could happen.

That something being?

A Big WCW Reunion Match.

Now, this match wouldn’t involve a reunion of every WCW performer still alive. That would be a really big and crazy match.

So, to clarify it a bit, such a match could involve two of WCW’s bigger stars, both of whom are also members of the WWE Hall of Fame.

The driving force behind this possible reunion? Goldberg, and his desire for some proper sendoff.

To catch anyone up who might actually be lost…

His contract was up around the time the calendar flipped to 2023.

Once his free agent status was confirmed, a few stories came out.

Of course, there was near-instant speculation that Goldberg could be All Elite, eventually. Tony Khan is a fan first, and surely he’d see the former WCW and WWE Champion as an attraction.

Beyond that was the notion that Goldberg felt he was owed, and did not get, a proper retirement match before he wrapped in WWE.

As that story goes, Vince McMahon promised him one…and Vince doesn’t run things anymore.

So, without a WWE gig, Goldberg still wants a proper retirement match. Or even a tour.

Enter Rick Bassman, wrestling and MMA promoter.

It has been mentioned that Goldberg has spoken with a promoter about a show or tour where he’d get to perform in Israel.

Connecting the dots, it seems that Bassman is that promoter.

Speaking with Haus of Wrestling, Bassman discussed the possibilities of a big WCW reunion match or show.

Being fair here, Bassman only mentioned the potential of a card with Sting and Goldberg on it, though it’s possible we’d see that as the headliner.

Sting, of course, works in AEW…and Tony Khan often lets talent take non-AEW dates.

Of course, if Goldberg becomes All Elite, maybe Tony wouldn’t mind two of his talents working there.

Plus, this type of independent retirement show themed around a specific wrestler? Maybe it’s a new trend, thanks to Ric Flair’s last match last year.

Which, as we know, should be his last, but after saying it was his last, to the shock of no one, he has said he could work more matches.
