While it wasn’t THE main event of the show, check out Bad Bunny’s big Backlash…with help from friends.

And, while it was billed as a battle of two former friends…I am willing to bet that it’s all storyline, and we can still count Damien Priest among Bad Bunny’s friends.

Or, if nothing else, acquaintances.

After all, following Bad Bunny’s big Backlash, you don’t pull that off without help from friends in all sorts of places.

So, lets dive into…

Bad Bunny’s Big Backlash – With Help From Friends

While this was not his first match in WWE, it was likely his biggest…and it’s hard to say that he and Damien Priest didn’t deliver.

Both Priest and Bunny had big reasons to go all out, owing to performing in front of their fans in Puerto Rico.

And as I covered during the SmackDown Nutshell, the fans in Puerto Rico were just on fire.

So how big was Bad Bunny’s big Backlash? Pretty big, and there was a lot that had to come into play.

And yes, there was help from friends, good and bad.

Plus, whether he intended for it or not…I loved this…

In any other time, if WWE didn’t have an amazingly hot face named Cody Rhodes, this could have and should have been the main event.

Honestly, even with Cody and Brock on the card? If this had been the main event, I doubt anyone would have complained.

So, there is a key here, one that was revealed by Fightful in the days before Backlash.

That is, as many had suspected, this match was initially planned to be a tag match. Bunny would have worked with Rey Mysterio, going against Priest and Dom.

However, as things progressed, the call was made to make it a one on one street fight.

Hearing that, I can say one thing-for his third official match on a premium live event, that shows a tremendous amount of confidence in Bunny’s ring abilities.

He worked well in a team with Damien Priest at WrestleMania 37. Bad Bunny had a nice showing at the Royal Rumble.

In both of those, he did a lot more than many expected, but he still had protection.

One on one against Damien Priest? His only protection, in theory, was that it was a street fight.

It did not need to be a technical masterpiece, and it certainly was not.

What this match was, however, was extremely satisfying and entertaining.

How much fun was it? I mean, WWE has had a lot of Superstars of Puerto Rican descent over the years.

None of them had a chance to enjoy such an epic PLE in their home country until now.

And guess what? Remember how I said it was Bad Bunny’s big Backlash, with help from friends?

We got some really cool Puerto Rican run-ins.

You knew that Judgement Day was going to get everyone involved.

It was also a given that the LWO was going to show up.

However, on this evening (likely to give Priest and Bunny a little breather, and fans an awesome moment), we saw Savio Vega and Carlito return to WWE as honorary members of the LWO.

Both Superstars helped run off the Judgement Day, and the fans loved it.

But the fans had something to love more.

Bad Bunny’s big Backlash wrapped up with a big win over Damien Priest.

And really, when you think about this in more detail, this was much bigger than just Bad Bunny’s big Backlash.

This man is a megastar, simply put. He’s been seen at the MET Gala, Coachella and now Backlash in under a month.

WWE loves to branch out beyond the usual audiences. Tapping into huge audiences that follow someone like Bunny is a sure way to pull it off.

And the best part? Bad Bunny looks like he belongs!

Either the man is just that talented, or that hard-working, or probably both.

Many fans used to hate these kinds of special attraction matches, but I suspect most can’t complain about this street fight.
