As an AEW original, Bates has been with the promotion since 2019. She initially worked with Peter Avalon as the “Librarian”.

While heel at first, she would slap Avalon to become a babyface. Speaking of “heel”, Bates was a key figure backstage with AEW’s Heels program.

She wrestled in other promotions including Shimmer Women Athletes and Shine. She also had sporadic appearances on Impact over the years.

Bates was also an “enhancement” talent for NXT from 2014. She was a Rosebud for Adam Rose, but eventually wrestled under the name of Blue Pants.

WWE producer Brian “Road Dogg” James recently notes during his Oh You Didn’t Know podcast that the company has hired a writer to work specifically with Wyatt. Could this mean fans will finally see Bray back on television?

James notes during the show that there is a “new writer” for Wyatt and “we will see” how this unfolds. He was in the middle of explaining that the WWE had one writer in the past specifically for Bray’s promos.

James notes this writer “understood” the character’s voice and could “churn out” material quickly for Bray. Will the new writer help bring Wyatt’s character to the next level?

Bray Wyatt’s History With The WWE

Bray Wyatt continues to be one of the most intriguing talents the WWE has had. He provided cutting-edge promos and matches over the years with incredible character development.

However, the company has always struggled with providing him with creative support and proper booking. In many viewers’ opinion, this has held Bray Wyatt back.

Bray Wyatt, whose real name is Windham Lawrence Rotunda, started wrestling in 2009 and signed a developmental deal with the WWE. He was initially known as Husky Harris.

He would jump to the main roster in 2012, repackaged as Bray Wyatt. He had a successful run as the cult leader character, but there were creative bumps in the road.

In 2019, he debuted his Firefly persona, an evolution of his former Wyatt self. He played two roles with this gimmick, a “good guy” children’s television host on one side, and an evil demon character in The Fiend.

Wyatt was then released by the WWE in July 2021. Speculation ran wild as to where he would end up next, but when Triple H came into power, he brought Wyatt back to the WWE in the fall of 2022.

Things were going great until Wyatt disappeared from television in early 2023. Here’s hoping the WWE can get its act together, where Bray Wyatt is concerned.
