It happens next week, and here’s one wild WWE draft rumor I am excited for. Plus, one veteran wrestler is struggling thanks to evil acquaintances.

Wild WWE Draft Rumor

With things getting shaken up next week, here’s one wild WWE draft rumor I can get behind.

Perhaps it is slightly less a wild WWE draft rumor, and more just a Superstar maybe finally getting a bigger stage.

For a while now, WWE officials have brought in NXT talents to work Main Event tapings and other matches filmed before RAW and SmackDown.

In recent months, we’ve seen numerous rising NXT Superstars get these opportunities. Sometimes the feedback has caused speculation as to a possible imminent call-up.

And, in case you haven’t been paying attention…we really have not seen an NXT call-up of note lately.

Since Triple H took over last year, many of the new faces have been returning talents. I suppose Dexter Lumis, Candice LeRae and Johnny Gargano would be the exceptions?

With the draft next week…many expect NXT talents to be involved.

And one recently used such a match on Main Event to get himself into consideration.

As someone who remembers Tyler Bate becoming the first NXT UK Champion, to his amazing tag matches as part of Mustache Mountain…this could be really really good.

Of course, one concern might be his size, relative to the Superstars that dominate RAW and SmackDown.

Tyler Bate is strong and stubborn, but he’s only 5’7.

For every short Superstar who becomes a Hall of Famer…there are many more who don’t.

Ignoring the size for a moment, I can’t help but think there are some compelling matches awaiting a Tyler Bate call-up.

For the easiest ones, Bate has experience with Pete Dunne (aka Butch) and GUNTHER from time in NXT. And yes, he hung with GUNTHER.

He made the most of his Main Event opportunity, and now we wait to see if a wild WWE draft rumor becomes an amazing WWE draft reality.

Veteran Wrestler Struggling

In some sad news, one veteran wrestler recently revealed he is struggling, and for some crushing reasons.

Abdullah the Butcher was, in his heyday, one of the scariest men in the ring.

He gained fame from working some of the more bloody and brutal matches wrestling fans would know about.

While he may have never become a WWE Superstar worth millions, he’s traveled the world while getting paid to do something he loves.

He parlayed his fame into a chain of restaurants, and his in-ring accomplishments got him into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Now, Abdullah has come out to reveal he is struggling and effectively broke.

He’s also 81 years old and the abuse he endured in the ring has taken a toll.

To make matters worse, he believes he’s been scammed by his wife and his own brother.

Per the report covered by WrestlingNews.co, the former star noted that his current home is in his wife and brother’s names…and his wife wants a divorce.

This is just the latest in a run of setbacks for the Butcher. It was mentioned he also lost a large lawsuit to another wrestler years ago-a loss due to his own inability to read.

Abdullah’s ability to make any income was also impacted by the pandemic, and times got so tough he had to sell his WWE Hall of Fame ring to make ends meet.

All may not be lost, however.

Apparently, his godson is a big believer in Abdullah. He has gone out and started an online fundraiser to help take care of the Butcher as he is struggling.

And, lets be realistic. Even if he was willing to take a fork to the forehead again…at 81 years old, he shouldn’t.

As feared as he was in the ring, there have been many stories about how he was a kind and caring person outside of it.

Here’s hoping Abdullah gets the help he needs.
