A surprise NXT title change almost occurred on live TV due to an injury on Wednesday night. And, did CM Punk and Chris Jericho resolve their tension?

Surprise NXT Title Change

The Spring Breakin’ episode of NXT saw the Women’s Championship decided in the main event. Indi Hartwell walked away still champion by defeating Tiffany Stratton and Roxanne Perez.

Heading into the match, the idea was always for Hartwell to leave with the gold. Although, WWE nearly called an audible towards the end of the match. Following a highflying move on the outside by Stratton, the champion suffered a legitimate injury.

Hartwell landed awkwardly one her ankle and the medical team came to ringside. The match continued with Stratton and Perez, while Hartwell headed to the back.

At that moment, Bryan Alvarez of “F4WOnline noted how a a surprise NXT title change was then discussed. The idea was for Stratton to defeat Perez to win her first title.

Instead, Hartwell returned towards the end of the match. She was in obvious pain and was seen limping for the final few spots.

Now, the end of the match was nothing great to remember. But, Hartwell was working with only one good foot.

It remains to be seen the extent of Hartwell’s injury. She was spotted the following day wearing a brace around her ankle.

Considering how she landed, the injury could be severe. If anything, it shows how tough Hartwell is.

Earlier in the month, Hartwell reached the pinnacle of her career in WWE. She won the vacant NXT Women’s Championship in a Ladder Match.

Hopefully, the injury will not prevent Hartwell from vacating her newly won title.

Meanwhile, Grayson Waller and Sol Ruca were also injured during NXT. Waller should not miss time, but Ruca apparently tore her ACL and will be out indefinitely.

So, do our readers think WWE would have made the right call with a surprise NXT title change on Wednesday night?

CM Punk joined AEW and it was seen as a huge deal. Then, there was the All Out brawl that led to numerous suspensions.

From all signs, Punk is headed back to AEW in the near future. The current idea is he will be part of the new Saturday show to ease tension with talent.

Recently, Punk went on a bit of a rant using  Instagram. In the process, he insulted Chis Jericho; who is seen as Tony Khan’s right hand man.

On the PWTorch audio show, Wade Keller noted how Punk and Jericho recently met to settle any issues. He continued how FTR were also present to help mediate both sides.

“I heard the meeting took place with Jericho and FTR,” said Keller. “I think it was supposed to be on Friday, I think. That might have been why he was in Tampa and I just heard from one source that it went well.”

Earlier in the week, Punk made plenty of noise on the WWE side of wrestling. He was backstage before RAW and spoke to several superstars, including Triple H.

He left before the show started and word is Vince McMahon made that call. Of course, Punk and Vince do not have a positive relationship.

Some see the move as Punk gauging his status with WWE. Others say he was simply visiting to make peace, with some speculating he was trying to create buzz before his likely return to AEW.

Punk does draw big numbers, so that is one reason AEW will look to bring him back. A big question remains if Punk can coexist in a locker room torn if they truly want him there.
