Goldberg ended his WWE run recently on an anticlimactic note. The WWE Hall of Famer (HOF) had an interview where he talks about enjoying a proper retirement match before he officially calls it quits from wrestling.

Goldberg On “Proper” Retirement Match

Having an interview with 93.7 The Ticket, Goldberg recently chats about his wrestling future. Moreover, he provides insight into a reneged retirement match promised by the WWE.

According to HOFer, he and Vince McMahon had a “handshake” understanding. This was, after his bout with Roman Reigns at the 2022 Elimination Chamber pay-per-view (PPV) event, he was to be given a “proper” retirement match.

Unfortunately, that never came to be. His WWE contract expired earlier this year, with his last match being in February of last year against Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship.

Goldberg – Retirement Match On The Horizon?

During his 93.7 The Ticket interview, he made it clear that no one, but him, places a “stamp” on his career. He notes that nobody will tell him when he’s done.

The wrestling talent adds that he truly believes his wrestling character deserves a send-off. He goes on to say that until that happens, he’s not hanging his wrestling boots up.

The WWE HOFer also states that everything and anything is an “option”. He hints that the “rumor mill” can start up after this.

There has been a massive buzz that Goldberg could end up in AEW. If Tony Khan offers the retirement run, he is looking for, fans may see the HOFer turn All Elite.

After WCW went under, Goldberg had a short WWE run from 2003 to 2004. He had a World Heavyweight Championship reign during that time.

However, when he returned to the WWE in 2016, Goldberg truly solidified his legacy in the company. Not only was he inducted into the HOF in 2018, but he also became a two-time Universal Champion during that time.

To boot, he was the only HOFer to become a Universal Champion, not once but two times. He is also the only wrestler to have captured the WCW World Title, WWE World Title, and Universal Championship.

Over to other WWE news, fans continue to wonder how Ronda Rousey’s recovery is going. There’s an update on this, below.

Ronda Rousey Update

Rousey has been sidelined due to an arm injury for a little while now. In fact, the WWE had to make major changes to their WrestleMania 39 card because Ronda and partner Shayna Baszler were supposed to win the Women’s Tag Titles.

The tag team was placed in a four-way tag bout at the big event, instead, due to Ronda’s injured arm. As such, Rousey was protected during the match, with limited action.

During the April 10th edition of Monday Night RAW, Raquel Rodriguez and Liv Morgan defeated Women’s Tag Champs Becky Lynch and (a stand-in for Lita) Trish Stratus.

Stratus made a shocking heel turn, attacking The Man. Meanwhile, this past Friday on SmackDown, Rodriguez and Morgan had an in-ring “celebration” for their big title win.

Of course, Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville ruined that moment. However, it looks like a new tag team feud is being set up.

But what about Rousey and Baszler? Will they be back in action anytime soon?

How Is Ronda Rousey?

Dave Meltzer talks about Rousey during his recent Wrestling Observer Radio. He notes that she is still dealing with her injury, and she’s not yet been medically cleared.

According to Dave, the WWE was planning on having Baszler and Rousey in the title race picture. Unfortunately, they can’t do that now, as Ronda is still recovering.

Hopefully, Rousey can heal up soon, so she and Shayna can re-enter the women’s tag team division. After all, the 2023 SummerSlam event is just around the corner.
