As we kick off a new year, will WWE add a championship belt to one of it’s shows? And there is some potentially big news for Ryback.

Will WWE Add Championship

New year…new title? There are some asking, will WWE add a championship to one of it’s brands moving forward.

Now, looking at all of the shows, there are quite a few possibilities.

Many have hoped that WWE would add a mid-tier women’s title, similar to the United States or Intercontinental Championship.

If that was your hope, you will likely be disappointed.

According to Wrestling News, there is discussion going on as to whether WWE will add a top championship to either RAW or SmackDown.

Now, this will probably perplex fans, for a few reasons.

One, the lack of a dedicated top champion for each brand was a self-inflicted wound. WWE chose to unify the titles at last year’s WrestleMania.

Since then, Roman Reigns has worked-sporadically-on both shows. However, SmackDown remains his home, as evident by his match on the last show of 2022.

For another point, there has been a good deal of talk in recent days that WWE has a plan to possibly take one belt off of Reigns before WrestleMania.

Case in point, we are rumored to get major title matches on both nights of WrestleMania, but Reigns is only mentioned for one.

Either WWE plans on having a mid-card belt headline a night of WrestleMania…or something else.

Worth asking…but would WWE introduce effectively not one, but two new belts?

As in, could we see the company formally unify both titles to give Reigns one belt, and then introduce another new title, for whatever show Reigns isn’t on?

We’ve seen it before, so it isn’t too far fetched. And if the company uses it as a chance to spruce up the dated designs, then all the better.

Big News For Ryback

While he hasn’t done much in the ring in over five years, there is still some big news for Ryback.

The former WWE Superstar has been in a bitter battle with his former employer over his ring name.

As many of us know, WWE has historically created and trademarked character names, in all but a few instances.

If and when a talent leaves the company, the name stays behind.

Well, Ryback fought for the opportunity to keep his name, and now there is some big news for him.

Looks like he finally has his name. Now, since he’s effectively done nothing as a wrestler since his WWE run…will he do something in 2023?
