PFL Championship: Julia Budd-Aspen Ladd Could Steal The Show

Kayla Harrison-Larissa Pacheco are the PFL Championship main event, but two other fighting females could steal the show.

On the ESPN+ prelims, Julia Budd and Aspen Ladd will square off in a featherweight contest. The bout features two of the top women fighters not only in the promotion, but the world.

Both Budd and Ladd have challenged themselves against some of the very best around. And, each would like nothing more than to become the next champion in the fastest growing and most innovative league in sports.

The 39-year-old Budd has fought for the PFL twice, going 1-1 with a win over Kaitlin Young and a tough decision loss to Genah Fabian. Prior to that, she had picked up 13 wins in 14 fights, including over the likes of Charmaine Tweet, Arlene Blencowe, Marloes Coenen and Olga Rubin.

Budd has been a key face in the rise of women’s mixed martial arts for years. She fought Ronda Rousey in her fourth career bout, and faced UFC champion Amanda Nunes in her second fight.

Ladd, 12 years younger than Budd, is part of the new generation of the sport. She has watched as the likes of Budd, Nunes, Rousey, Miesha Tate and others have made the sport what it is today.

Prior to signing with the PFL, Ladd was working her way up the UFC ladder by making on Raquel Pennington, Germaine de Randamie and others. She started her career 8-0 with wins over Sijara Eubanks, Tonya Evinger and Lina Lansberg.

While the championship and millionaire bouts are the featured attractions and will take the headlines, Budd and Ladd could be the show stealers of the night.

PFL Championship takes place November 25 from the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The prelims air live on ESPN+ with the main card going up on ESPN+ pay-per-view.
