After just a few iterations, it seems WWE cancels the Day One PLE. Plus, is Bobby Fish back in NXT?

WWE Cancels Day One PLE

In something of a mild surprise, it seems as though WWE cancels the Day One PLE.

That report comes to us via Wrestlenomics:

According to the report, WWE currently has no premium live events scheduled between Survivor Series at the end of November and the Royal Rumble at the end of January.

In other words, we will have a near two month gap between premium live events.

The report indicated that WWE did indeed cancel Day One, and that no re-scheduling was on the horizon.

There has not yet been any explanation, and we may never get one.

On one hand, the effort to kick off the New Year with a major WWE PPV was kind of neat.

However, the reality is…lots of other things are going on in the first few days of the new year. Lots of college football, as an example.

On top of that, it is hard to argue that giving the crews some semblance of a holiday break isn’t a bad thing. Yes, there will still be plenty of RAW and SmackDown episodes.

House shows, too.

But, no Day One anymore. For now.

Of course, there is nothing stopping WWE from opting to make a major house show into some made-for-Peacock special, either.

We know that they went production heavy on an MSG show last year featuring Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar. There is nothing preventing them from doing that again, but also airing it.

But, for now, expect a gap between Survivor Series and the Rumble.

Is Bobby Fish Back In NXT?

We know he finished in AEW…so is Bobby Fish back in NXT?

Not exactly…but there might be signs of optimism.

Yes, Fish walked away from AEW after his short contract expired. He was not happy with how he was being booked, and understandably so.

Fish did pop up in IMPACT, but the move didn’t do all that much, and was likely more of a one off deal.

Interestingly enough, Fightful has reported that Bobby Fish has been seen backstage at recent NXT events. Plural.

According to the report, Fish remains on good terms with WWE leadership (read: Hunter).

That relationship didn’t wane when he was released last year due to budget cuts, so clearly the door remains open for something.

Some have opined that Fish might have a home in NXT as a coach and part-time talent, and there are certainly worse fates for him.

Of course, many fans yearn for AEW to release Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly and for us to finally see the Undisputed Era run wild on RAW or SmackDown.

However, Tony Khan is against releases now…and there are whispers that Adam Cole might have issues ever wrestling again.

Of course, one former member of the Undisputed Era does still call NXT home…

But, for now, Bobby Fish isn’t back under WWE contract…but being in the building is an encouraging sign.
