The title was up for grabs after Oliveira was stripped earlier this year due to missing weight.
In the co-main event, Aljamain Sterling dominated TJ Dillashaw, earning a stoppage.
UFC 280 took place from Abu Dhabi and aired live on ESPN+ pay-per-view.
