Andy Ruiz Vs. Luis Ortiz ‘Going To Be A War’ Sunday Night

Editor’s Note: This article has been updated.

Heavyweight contenders Andy Ruiz Jr. and Luis Ortiz will square off Sunday night.

And the ring better be prepared for a war.

The two meet live on FOX Sports pay-per-view in the main event under the Premier Boxing Champions banner from Los Angeles. The Cyrpto.com Arena will be the venue.

Ruiz, a former champion, isn’t focused on ending the fight early. He just wants a win to move one step closer to competing for the title once again.

“I feel great. It means so much for me to be fighting in Los Angeles in front of all of my fans and supporters and I’m just ready to go,” he said. “Everyone here today and everyone who supports me is my motivation to keep going.

“If this ends in a knockout it ends in a knockout. My only goal is to be victorious. I’m in shape to go 12 hard rounds. We’re going to go in there and leave it all in the ring.”

As for Ortiz, he is expecting nothing short of another classic contest with a fellow fighter.

“You’re going to see a war on Sunday night. This is a venue that lends itself to great fights and this matchup with Ruiz is going to be another one to add to the history,” he said. “I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, this fight is not going the distance. I hope all the Cuban and Mexican fans who are coming out are ready for something special, because its coming Saturday night.

“Training camp has been perfect and we couldn’t be more ready for this clash. I know Andy is going to bring everything he has. That’s what I want. I want to beat the best version of Andy Ruiz Jr.”
