AEW Talent Meeting At Dynamite, Ricky Starks Quicky Loss

AEW Talent Meeting Dynamite

The wrestling world is still buzzing over all the events that unfolded centering around CM Punk, his media scrum rant, and the backstage brawl. This makes it no surprise that Tony Khan held an AEW talent meeting yesterday at Dynamite tapings.

AEW Talent Meeting At Dynamite

As most may know by now, CM Punk called The Elite “irresponsible EVPs” during a media scrum, post-All Out. Like a domino effect, Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks confronted him after the scrum, furious about his statements.

This led to a physical altercation between Punk, Ace Steel, and The Elite. In fact, reports note that a chair was thrown at Nick Jackson, hurting his eye, and Ace bit Kenny, too at some point.

As such, Steel, Punk, and The Elite are all suspended. In addition, Brandon Cutler, Pat Buck (Producer), and Christopher Daniels (Head of Talent Relations) were also suspended.

As per a Fightful Select report, a talent meeting was held before Dynamite. AEW talent, coaches, announcers, and referees were all included.

The meeting was led by Bryan Danielson, Chris Jericho, and Jon Moxley. A number of people gave Jericho praise for how he carried himself during all the events between Omega, The Young Bucks, and CM Punk.

Fightful also notes that Steel and Punk were set to have Zoom meetings with AEW officials before the larger talent meeting. Only time will tell if all the backstage angst will die down in the company, or continue to heat up.

Speaking of AEW All Out, many fans were caught off guard by Ricky Starks’s “quicky” loss at the event. More details on this, below.

As per Fightful, the match wasn’t originally supposed to be that short. In fact, the two were given more time for the bout, even though the idea was to “push” Hobbs.

The report notes that Starks did not suffer an injury during the bout. It also addressed the rumors stating that Ricky asked out of his deal or signed a new one is also not true.

Ricky Starks History With AEW

In 2020, Ricky Starks debuted in AEW. He joined Team Taz, aligning himself with Taz and Brian Cage by attacking Robert Anthony and Darby Allin.

He would end up dethroning Cage in July 2021, by winning the FTW title from him. Ricky would defend the championship throughout the next year.

This past July on Dynamite, Starks defeated Cole Karter rather quickly. An open challenge was issued for the next week at Fight for the Fallen.

Danhausen would answer it and was defeated rather fast. Starks would issue another open challenge on the spot.

This time, HOOK stepped up, winning the championship from Starks. As Tony Schiavone was interviewing Starks, post-match, Hobbs snapped and attacked Ricky from behind.

This led to the dissolution of Team Taz. The two have had quite the rivalry, since.
