In the aftermath of the post-All Out chaos, AEW issues numerous suspensions to major names. Plus, will we ever see CM Punk vs. The Elite?

AEW Issues Numerous Suspensions

In what was inevitable, AEW issues numerous suspensions following the craziness that happened after All Out.

In case you missed those happenings, here is a quick refresher.

There have been reports of tension between CM Punk and The Elite for months backstage.

That tension is what prompted CM Punk to, off script, call out Adam Page a few weeks back.

It all boiled over Sunday into Monday, as CM Punk unloaded on numerous AEW stars in his media scrum session.

He focused on Colt Cabana, Page, The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega most specifically.

Following his blistering rant, things quickly escalated.

Here is where reports get murky, and it depends on who you believe.

According to some, Punk swung first. However, according to CM Punk and Ace Steel, the Bucks knocked down the door to Punk’s dressing room.

Even if Punk swung first, if the Bucks did indeed act as the aggressors by kicking in the door? They have no leg to stand on.

Still, from every single person involved, things went from unprofessional to possibly illegal in a hurry.

And, Tony Khan had to make a move. As such, we’ve learned via SI.com, that AEW issues numerous suspensions.

As of this time, the suspended talent include: Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks, Christopher Daniels, Pat Buck, Michael Nakazawa and Brandon Cutler.

Notice that, as of 1pm EST, there is no word on what happens with CM Punk.

It is believed that we should know today whether Punk and Steel are suspended or terminated.

In addition, it has been revealed that an independent 3rd party is going to handle the investigation into the incident.

Which means, while we’ve seen a number of suspensions already, we may have more coming out of this.

Also, thus far, there is no news as to the length of the suspensions. For comparison, Eddie Kingston recently served a two week suspension for his altercation with Sammy Guevara.

This incident seems to warrant a much stiffer set of suspensions, however. More names were involved, it generated tons of heat, and three company EVPs were specifically involved.

Meltzer specifically noted that this situation might be handled far more seriously in part because of who witnessed things backstage. Megha Parekh was there, and is the chief legal counsel for AEW.

In addition, it is believed that some, like Buck and Daniels, may be suspended until the investigation determines what role they played (IE, were they attempting to separate people).

Stay tuned for additional fallout.

Will CM Punk Wrestle The Elite?

With all of that said…will CM Punk and FTR ever wrestle The Elite?

FTR had teased as much, as they could use Punk to challenge The Elite for the newly won Trios titles.

However, SI’s report indicates that there is currently no plan for them to have any matches.

In pro wrestling, art sometimes imitates life. Also, we know in some cases there is no such thing as bad press.

However, in this case, all signs indicate to there being way too much real life heat between Punk and The Elite for anyone to consider a match a good idea.

And considering that CM Punk could very well find himself out of AEW this week? In the near term at least, it makes any though of a match seem silly.
