PFL Playoffs 8: Which Heavyweight Warriors Will Survive Semis?

Four fighters will enter PFL 8 and the heavyweight semifinals with thoughts of $1 million dancing in their heads.

But only two will come out of PFL 8 with that opportunity.

The PFL playoffs continue Friday from the Cardiff Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff, Wales. This marks the debut for the fastest growing and most innovative league in sports in the United Kingdom.

And it is also the first time that the PFL playoffs travel outside of the United States.

In the main event, Rory MacDonald looks to secure his spot in the welterweight finals when he collides with Magomed Umalatov. Sadibou Sy and Carlos Leal make up the other welterweight semifinal.

But two matches that are sure to have the European fans on their collective feet throughout will take place in the heavyweight ranks.

That is where Ante Delija faces off against Renan Ferreira and Denis Goltsov battles Matheus Scheffel.

Reigning 2021 PFL heavyweight champion Bruno Cappelozza was forced out with an injury. That has opened the door for Scheffel and given all four fighters the chance to see a new champion crowned.

Scheffel is no slouch, as he is coming off a decision victory over Cappelozza. He swept the three scorecards, taking two of the three rounds.

Ferreira is looking to bounce back himself, as he was topped by Klidson Abreu in his most recent fight, while Delija punched his ticket with a victory over Shelton Graves.

Goltsov also comes into the final four riding momentum after earning a one-sided decision vs. Maurice Greene.

As the No. 1 ranked fighter, Goltsov sits on top of the bracket. Delija also posted two wins during the regular season, while Ferreira and Scheffel each won once.
