Conor McGregor Set For Role In “Road House” Remake

Former UFC champion Conor McGregor is going Hollywood.

McGregor has been cast in the remake of “Road House.” Jake Gyllenhaal will be involved, with filming set for the Dominican Republic.

Tim Simpson, McGregor’s manager, confirmed that the role will not hinder his return to the Octagon.

“It fits in perfectly,” Simpson said (thanks to MMAjunkie.com for the quotes). “He’s still on track for a big return next year, but this fits in perfectly in the meantime.”

McGregor last fought in 2021 when he suffered a TKO loss to Dustin Poirier. Overall, the former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion is 22-6 overall and 10-4 in the UFC.

Simpson also gave an update on the status of McGregor, who suffered a serious leg injury in the loss.

“The leg is still healing,” Simpson said. “I think there’s a little bit more to go on that, but he’s been training like a madman twice a day, every day. He’s got his full team out there: the McGregor Fast team, all his health and fitness guys, physio, boxing, coaching. He’s been going hard. He’s been training super hard. He’s in amazing shape – just final adjustments to get that leg back where it needs to be.”

Early on, reports centered around Ronda Rousey starring in a remake of the hit film. Plans fell through on that in 2015, though.

According to new reports, Gyllenhaal’s character is a former UFC fighter who is now retired and working at a roadhouse in the Florida Keys. The film will be released on Amazon Prime.
