AEW started with a roster that featured some familiar names, but many of the wrestlers were new to fans. Since then, AEW has started to bring in more names from WWE.

Besides wrestlers in their prime, AEW had reached out to Hall of Famers. Therefore, we have seen the likes of veterans like Paul Wight and Mark Henry join the company.

While speaking with NBC Sports Boston, Kurt Angle mentioned how AEW reached out to him. They even offered him a 10 match deal.

“They actually wanted me to wrestle in particular,” said Angle. “Tony Khan gave me a call, wanted me to wrestle.”

“They offered me a pretty good deal, but I just can’t do it anymore. I wish I could, but it’s just not possible.”

“They wanted me to have big special matches. They gave me a contract for ten matches, but they didn’t say how long it would be, so it might not have just been for a year.”

“It might’ve been for three years, and I would’ve wrestled three matches a year.  But, I decided not to do it because of my supplement company, and the fact that I’m just not the same as I used to be.”

“If I’m gonna go in there and wrestle, I want to be the old Kurt Angle. And, I know I can’t be that anymore.”

Instead, Angle wanted to focus on his supplement company.

At least Angle knows his body cannot handle a wrestling match. While Angle could wrestle, he wants to be at his best.

Unfortunately, the Olympic gold medalist’s body has taken so much damage over the years. Still, WWE and AEW will try to sign Angle because of his name.

WWE is looking for their next big star. John Cena barely wrestles and Roman Reigns now works a lighter schedule.

Therefore, WWE is looking at NXT 2.0 to produce the future of the company. Perhaps, they have finally found someone.

On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed how WWE likes Xyon Quinn and Sanga and they could get a promotion. When it comes to the future, Quinn is seen as a bigger star.

Meltzer said WWE sees Quinn as the “total package.”

The two actually wrestled each other this week on NXT. Sanga won with ease as he used his size to gain the victory.

Quinn is a former rugby player, who has been with WWE since 2018. Besides NXT, he was also seen on 205 Live.

Sanga was briefly paired with Jinder Mahal on the main roster. That was short-lived and after also splitting from Grayson Waller in NXT, he is now a singles wrestler.
