PFL 2022 Regular Season Nearing Explosive Kickoff Night

The PFL returns next week with the first event of the 2022 season.

After crowning champions in 2021, the promotion started a challenger series to begin 2022.

Now, though, it is time for the “big boys (and girls)” to hit the SmartCage and do battle in pursuit of a world title and $1 million check.

That comes at the end, and to reach the end, you need to qualify.

To get fight fans who might be unfamiliar with the process up to speed. The PFL offers a regular season, much like other pro leagues.

From there, fighters are given points off wins, losses, etc., with the top ones qualifying for the playoffs. Single-elimination follows until one is left standing.

PFL 1 is set for Wednesday, April 20 from the Esports Stadium Arlington in Texas. The event airs live on ESPN and ESPN+.

In the main event, lightweight champion Raush Manfio battles former UFC fighter Don Madge. Also, Antonio Carlos Junior will tangle with Delan Monte as he begins defense of his 2021 light heavyweight title.

Clay Collard welcomes Jeremy Stephens to the PFL and Emiliano Sordi meets Josh Silveira.

Olivier Aubin-Mercier, Natan Schulte, Omari Akhmedov, Rob Wilkinson and Stevie Ray are among those set for action.

The lightweight and light heavyweight divisions will be the focus of the night.

And if you think these matches are just ordinary ones, you  might recall the craziness of 2021.

The likes of Anthony Pettis, Schulte, former champion Lance Palmer and Rory MacDonald all suffered early losses.
