Since Cody Rhodes left AEW, there’s been a massive buzz around him heading to the WWE. In fact, there have also been reports indicating he may even make an appearance at WrestleMania 38. Still, with weeks away from the event, it’s uncertain if he’ll be a part of it. Or will he?

WWE Still Wants Cody Rhodes For WrestleMania 38

Dave Meltzer talks about Cody Rhodes, a WWE jump, and WrestleMania 38 on his latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio. With Monday Night RAW scheduled for Jacksonville, Florida this week, it would be the obvious choice for his WWE.

As per Meltzer, things were “set up” for Rhodes and WM 38. However, it was taken off the boards as of late.

Dave states that there are still ongoing talks between Cody and the WWE. With that being said, nothing is set in stone as of yet.

This Monday, March 14th (and RAW) will be a key indicator date around a jump to the WWE for Rhodes. It’s still very unknown as to whether or not this will happen.

Possible WrestleMania 38 Opponent For Cody Rhodes

According to Fightful Select, a potential opponent has been pitched for Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 38. The report reveals a match between him and Seth Rollins was proposed.

Things are still up in the air as of right now. Still, a Rollins versus Rhodes match at WM 38 would be epic.

WrestleMania 38 Ups And Downs

Interestingly enough, Rollins recently blacked out all his accounts on social media. This happened after he and Kevin Owens were unable to win the RAW tag team titles during this past week’s episode.

KO ended up closing the Red brand show inviting “Stone Cold” Steve Austin to a special edition of the Kevin Owens Show that’s set to take place at WrestleMania 38 in Arlington Texas. The Rattlesnake accepted.

Meanwhile, no word on exactly what Rollins will do at the flagship event. His WM 38 role seems to be unknown at this point.

Will Cody Rhodes head to the WWE? Will Seth Rollins end up being his opponent?

It’s hard to say. Rhodes has been quiet since he last wrestled for AEW on the January 26th edition of Dynamite, earlier this year.

“So Many” Elephants In The Room

He ended up losing his TNT Championship to Sammy Guevara that night. After the fact, he revealed his status with the company, to fans at home and in the live audience.

Rhodes started off the promo by stating there are “so many” elephants in the room. He confirmed he was working without a contract that night, too.

Cody also noted during the segment that he’s isn’t even on the payroll with AEW anymore. In addition, he stated he was working on a “handshake” deal that was 100% legitimate.

He ended the promo stating that he had never felt “more at home” than wrestling for the TNT title. He left the WWE because of creative issues, so could he feel comfortable returning after all the success he’s attained outside the company?

Only time will tell. It’ll be interesting to see how this story unfolds.
