Phil Davis: ‘I Think I Shine Under That Pressure’

Phil Davis is ready for anything.

Davis will meet Julius Anglickas Saturday at Bellator 276. The light heavyweight battle will serve as the co-main event live on Showtime.

For the former champion Davis, this is a chance to continue his climb back to the title.

“I think I shine when I’m under that pressure of being in hostile territory. There could be some home advantage for him, but I feel like I do some of my best work in hostile territory,” Davis said. “My job is very simple. Show up Saturday, beat somebody up and get my hand raised.”

“Mr. Wonderful” won the belt in 2016, but lost it to Ryan Bader in his first title defense. Since, he has gone 6-2 including a 2021 win over Yoel Romero.

Davis, who was a contender for several years in the UFC, also has wins over Lyoto Machida and Liam McGeary around a loss to Vadim Nemkov for the title.

“Julius is a tough fighter. He swings for the fences. He’s one of those guys who is ready to make a nice title run,” Davis said. “He’s overall good at everything, he doesn’t have any holes in his game. When I get hold of a guy like that, it’s a game time feel. I just have to figure out where I can exploit any weaknesses.”

In the main event, Mads Burnell and Adam Borics collide in a title-eliminator in the featherweight division.
