Kevin Holland Plays Real-Life Superhero, Takes Down Gunman

Just call Kevin Holland the real-life Superman.

Holland subdued a gunman at a restaurant in Houston – one year after stopping an alleged car thief.

Here are the details.

Holland and two of his friends took down Jesus Edrai Cardiel Samaniego. Samaniego, a 24-year-old, attempted to rob a sushi restaurant in Houston just before midnight.

The UFC welterweight was enjoying his dinner at Ra Sushi in the Highland Village section of Houston when he noticed what was happening. Samaniego fired off the gun and faces possession of a stolen gun and discharge of a firearm charges.

Holland and his friends has wrestled the weapon away by the time police arrived on the scene. According to reports, nearly 50 customers were inside the establishment at the time of the incident.

On his social media, Holland posted a video with the wording “I’m drunk and fighting kung fu fighting.” He did state that the suspect was okay and had been taken into custody during another video.

Several of the video clips can be found here.

Holland told Click2Houston that “We were eating and next thing you know, a gunshot just popped off.

“So everything paused and then everybody started running to get down under a table.”

Instead of doing that, though, Holland “quickly hopped on it, got to the shooter, go him down.

“He had a backpack on him,” one of the people with Holland said. “We got the backpack away from him because we didn’t know what was in the backpack.

“And pretty much everything went well from there.”

Holland is coming off a second round finish of Alex Oliveira earlier this month at uFC 272.
