Cain Velasquez ‘Took Law Into Own Hands’ During Incident

The Santa Clara District Attorney’s office charged Cain Velasquez this week.

Velasquez, the former UFC heavyweight champion, was arrested on Monday. His booking was on suspension of attempted murder.

While Velasquez remains in the Santa Clara County Main Jail North, his arraignment was delayed until March 7. He was denied bail and has a no-contact issue ordered.

A total of 10 charges stand in front of Velasquez. Prosecutors claim he fired a handgun multiple times into a truck occupied by Harry Goularte Jr.

Goularte is charged with molesting a close relative of Velasquez, who also rammed the truck with his own vehicle. A female was in the car and unhurt during the incident, but another male was struck by gunfire.

Jeff Rosen, district attorney, said “The sad tragedy is that Mr. Velasquez chose to take the law into his own hands, endangering the public and everyone in the truck.

“This act of violence also causes more pain and suffering to his family.”

Police have charged Goularte with multiple charges. They interviewed the victim, a 4-year-old, and investigated further.
