Former Champion Darrion Caldwell Ready To Put On A Show

Darrion Caldwell

Darrion Caldwell has one thing in mind for Saturday night.

A finish.

Caldwell takes on Enrique Barzola at Bellator 273 live from Phoenix. The bout headlines the prelims, which air on YouTube and Pluto TV.

For Caldwell, this is the perfect chance to get back in line for the Bellator bantamweight title. A belt he previously held.

“I am not going the distance. I am going to beat his (Enrique Barzola’s) ass,” Caldwell said. “I am here to hold down the Bellator banner. Saturday night is business.

“I still have a lot of juice left. I’ve still got a lot of fight in me. Even though I have been here for a while, we are just getting started. The Wolf 2.0 is in full effect. In 2022, you guys are going to see a completely different fighter than previously.”

Back-to-back losses have Caldwell facing a must-win situation. Prior to the setbacks, he had won two in a row and started his career 15-3 overall including a title defense.

In 2017, Caldwell became Bellator bantamweight champion with a decision win over Eduardo Dantas. He defended vs. Leandro Higo before losing it to Kyoji Horiguchi in 2019.

“I am coming here to steal the show. Even though I am not on the main card, my fight will be talked about the most,” he said. “There is a line of Bellator bantamweights that are tough. I will wax this kid. I can string together some good wins. I am next in line.”
