Drew McIntyre Out With Neck Injury, Brock Lesnar Vs Bobby Lashley

Drew McIntyre Neck Injury

WWE will be without a top superstar as Drew McIntyre has a legit neck injury. Also, fans look to be finally getting Brock Lesnar vs Bobby Lashley.

Drew McIntyre Out With Neck Injury

At WWE Day 1, Drew McIntyre did not have trouble in his match against Madcap Moss. After the match, McIntyre was backstage and attacked by Moss and Happy Corbin.

They placed a chair around his neck and then tossed a steel beam. After the show, McIntyre was spotted with a neck brace and WWE said he suffered a cervical neck strain with severe contusions.

The angle was done to write McIntyre off TV due to a legit injury. PWInsider noted how his neck as been bothering him for several weeks.

At this point, WWE will have him undergo medical testing to see what is next. It could be anything from a short break to major surgery.

The former WWE Champion’s status has been described as “up in the air.” Once the doctors get a look, they will have a better idea on how to move forward.

McIntyre has been praised by WWE for working very hard through the injury. He even worked multiple matches during the holiday tour because other superstars had COVID.

A WWE source said McIntyre “went down swinging” for the company. That should come as no surprise considering how well he represented WWE during the ThunderDome era.

Before the injury, WWE had big plans for McIntyre. They wanted him back in the title picture, which means another feud with Roman Reigns.

If he will not miss much time, which we hope, then maybe WWE can squeeze a program between the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania 38.

There were concerns heading into the first ever Day 1 event. About a week before, a bunch of superstars tested positive for COVID.

WWE tried their best to keep the Day 1 card intact. And, they were almost perfect.

Unfortunately, the most important match on the card had to be cancelled. During the kickoff show, fans learned Roman Reigns was positive for the virus.

Therefore, Brock Lesnar was switched to the WWE Championship match, where he left with gold. Meanwhile, his current angle with Reigns is unknown.

The idea was WWE had something big planned for their match that would lead to WrestleMania 38. Paul Heyman was supposed to play a key-role last night, but now we will have to wait and see what happens next.

Still, WWE made the most out of a major issue. With Lesnar on RAW as WWE Champion, he needs a challenger.

He pinned Big E at the pay per view, so that does not seem like his next opponent. During Wresting Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said Lesnar vs Bobby Lashley has already begun.

“So with Lesnar as champion the next step is Lesnar vs Lashley,” said Meltzer. “You could tell as they teased that glare at the end.”

“So, and the match was booked specifically for that direction because Big E was the one who was pinned. Because if it wasn’t Big E who was pinned, then you’d want to go with Lesnar vs Big E.”

It is a bummer that Big E’s reign is already over. On the flip side, fans finally get Lesnar and Lashley in their first singles match.
