The heavyweight division of the UFC takes center stage in the coming days and weeks.
First, Derrick Lewis meets Chris Daukaus this Saturday night in the main event of UFC Fight Night.
That bout serves as something of an appetizer to January when Francis Ngannou and Ciryl Gane unify the belts.
Lewis and Daukaus are both jockeying to secure a spot near the top of the rankings.
Ngannou is the reigning champion, while Gane won the interim belt. Those two square off at UFC 270 on January 22 from the Honda Center in Anaheim.

On Saturday, December 18, No. 3-ranked heavyweight Derrick Lewis will face-off against the No. 7-ranked heavyweight Chris Daukaus in the UFC Vegas 45 main event to close out the action in the Octagon for 2021.

The UFC returns to Honda Center in Anaheim on Saturday, January 22, with one of the biggest heavyweight title fights in MMA history headlining UFC 270, as feared knockout artist Francis Ngannou defends his crown against interim titlist Ciryl Gane.
The unbeaten Gane has taken the UFC by storm since his Octagon debut in 2019, but to become the undisputed champion, he must defeat “The Predator,” who owns knockout wins over Stipe Miocic, Junior Dos Santos and Cain Velasquez.
Plus, flyweight champion Brandon Moreno returns to face the man he took the title from, Deiveson Figueiredo, in their highly anticipated third meeting.
