Miesha Tate: ‘I’m Really Good…In A Great Place’ After Loss

There was a time when losses would really defeat Miesha Tate.

Now, though, the mother and former UFC champion has learned to get past defeats inside the Octagon.

Tate lost to Ketlen Vieira via decision this past weekend in the main event. For the time being, the setback halted her run to the title.

“I’m really good. I’m in a good place,” said Tate, while appearing on her podcast Throwing Down with Renee and Miesha (thanks to MMA Fighting for the quotes). “This is so much different than the first time around. I have so much more to be grateful for.

“Before, when I would fight, my fight day would be the last day of my life in my mind. It was the day I died, it was the day that nothing else happened or existed beyond that date.

“I was obsessed with it and when I would lose, it was crushing and when I would win it was all good. Now, it’s just a moment in time for me. I’m on a journey, I’m enjoying the process and I’m okay. I’m at peace with this.”

Tate ended her lengthy retirement earlier this year, scoring a victory Marion Reneau.

As for what is next, Tate is just leaving it up in the air.

“Absolutely nothing,” she said. “I’m gonna sit around and do a whole lot of nothing. I’m gonna eat. I’m just looking forward to Thanksgiving.”
