Bellator women’s featherweight champion Cris Cyborg might be showing something new Friday.
Cyborg defends her title against Sinead Kavanagh in the main event of Bellator 271 live on Showtime.
During a press event earlier this week, Cyborg disclosed some of her new training methods.
“I’m really excited to showcase the work I did with Antonio McKee, I worked on my wrestling there,” she said. “I’m very happy and excited to show this.”
Cyborg has been a dominant fighter throughout her career. She has captured gold in Strikeforce, Invicta FC and the UFC. Now, she is the top female in Bellator.
“I love Bellator,” she said. “It reminds me of my great times in Strikeforce.”
Coming into the bout, Cyborg knows she will need to be at the top of her game to defend vs. Kavanagh.
“I respect Sinead, I respect her as a fighter and I’m very excited to fight her on Friday,” she said.
“I believe that I’m the champ, but I do think the challenger should have to fight in my home. I believe the challenger should have to come for the champion.
“I’ve fought in Florida before, my uniform is Miami colors, I’m very excited to fight in front of my fans here in Miami.”
