Former UFC champion TJ Dillashaw successfully returned from his suspension with a win recently. But it appears he is unsure of the next move.
Dillashaw, who was suspended for failing a drug test, bested Cory Sandhagen to get back on track. He is hoping to take on the winner between Petr Yan and champion Aljamain Sterling, but told Submission Radio that his plans are up in the air.
“Yeah, of course I’m getting the title shot. There’s no ifs, ands about it. It’s perfect timing. I heal up, these guys aren’t supposed to fight until October 30th, which puts them back in the cage by March, or something like that on a championship schedule,” he said. “That’s perfect timing for me to get ready, get back, and reclaim what’s really mine.”
Dillashaw also gave out some details on what the UFC proposed in terms of a bout with Urijah Faber.
“They kind of, somewhat mentioned it when I first talked about my comeback and I laughed at it because it made no fucking sense to me because, I mean… the guy, I would have nothing to gain out of that fight and everything to lose. I don’t even want him to get a fight off my name, for one. And then two, what does that do for me? I’m fighting Corey Sandhagen, number one-ranked guy in the division, other than the champions. And it was kind of like a… only one person part of the UFC would want it, and the rest of them were kind of even mad that it was mentioned. So, it was to be just like a joke. I think really they just want his ass kicked so they can just kick him out of the UFC.”
“Only one of them offered it, so it wasn’t like a real offer. I think someone really just wanted Urijah to get his ass whooped and so they wanted to throw it out there. I mean, to be honest, look, Urijah Faber is way past his prime. He’s got no business being in the UFC, and I think the only fight for him would be some sort of big drama fight like that, right? Other than me, what makes sense for him who to fight? So, why even give him the chance to make any kind of fame or money off my name by fighting me. Because I’m the only fight left for him, I guess you’d say. But it makes zero sense for me. I’m coming back to be the greatest bantamweight of all time. He’s only there to have the most title losses of all time.”
