Roman Reigns heard Undertaker call the current batch of superstars soft, so he has an issue with the future WWE Hall of Famer. Also, Rhea Ripley looks to be officially joining the main roster by working the Royal Rumble match.
Roman Reigns Has Issue With Undertaker
Joe Rogan and his podcast has taken off the past few years. So much, that he signed an exclusive contract with Spotify.
One his most recent guests was none other than the Undertaker. They spoke for a few hours, with one comment in particular gaining lots of attention.
Basically, Undertaker said the current wrestlers are too “soft” compared to twenty or thirty years ago. Well, those remarks were met with mostly negative responses from current wrestlers.
Roman Reigns appeared on the Sports Illustrated Media Podcast with Jimmy Traina and Undertaker’s remark was discussed. Like many others, Reigns did not agree with Undertaker.
“It’s strange. I really feel like he misspoke,” said Reigns. “Because Mark is a really good guy.”
“He’s very knowledgable. Obviously, he has a ton of respect for the business.”
“We do the same job. It’s not like the bumps got any worse or any better. You’re always hearing ‘a drop kick was a finish back in my time.’”
“A dropkick is like the second move you see in a wrestling match nowadays. We’re doing a lot more. And sometimes I think we’re a lot more physical.”
“And because the audience has seen so much more, we have to do a little more in order to peak their interest; in order to show them something different.”
Reigns’ Work Ethic
Reigns also addressed how he handles WWE business each week.
“I have to put my whole mind into work as I come to work on a Friday. Sometimes my wife has to tell me to shut it off.”
“She’ll be like, ‘stop, be at home, be present.’ Because I can’t turn it off sometimes and I think to be at the highest level of anything, you have to be borderline obsessive.”
Reigns seemed almost shocked by Undertaker’s response. He ended the interview with the following on why Taker made those comments.
“I think it was just like a retired guy trying to sound gangster,” said Reigns.
Reigns and Undertaker have met once before at WrestleMania 33. Undertaker would lose and was supposed to retire.
But, the main event was a disaster. Undertaker would return for a few more matches, including a tag match with Reigns, before retiring last year.
Rhea Ripley – Royal Rumble
The Royal Rumble Matches are filled with surprises each year. Fans see a combination of the past, present and future all in one match.
As of now, WWE has not confirmed many entrants. Therefore, it is making people believe there will be lots of surprise names.
During the Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer spoke about Rhea Ripley. Seeing her current position in WWE has Meltzer believe she will work the event as an official member of the main roster.
“Rhea Ripley is on the main roster,” said Meltzer. “She was gonna debut a couple of weeks ago and they put it off for a couple of weeks.”
“A couple of weeks is now. Debuting her as a surprise in the Rumble and winning the Rumble, that just makes sense.”
Ripley working the match makes sense. As for winning the whole thing, it is possible considering her push.
Last time fans saw Ripley in NXT was at the start of the year. She lost to Raquel Gonzalez in a Last Woman Standing Match.
The timing does seem to indicate that Ripley is done with NXT. In less than 24 hours, Ripley could be headed back to WrestleMania for another title match.
