PFL Champion Kayla Harrison Now Headlines Invicta FC 43 Event

Kayla Harrison

Reigning PFL women’s champion Kayla Harrison has a little more pressure and the spotlight even brighter on her fight Friday night.

Due to COVID-19 safety protocols, the planned Invicta FC 43 main event between Emily Ducote and Montserrat Ruiz has been delayed.

That means Harrison and Courtney King will headline the UFC Fight Pass event from Kansas City. The action begins at 8 p.m. ET.

Harrison, who has dominated at the lightweight division and is a former two-time Olympic gold medalist, will be making her featherweight debut. She successfully weighed in for her new weight class on Thursday.

A sixth-degree black belt in judo, Harrison compiled a perfect record competing in the lightweight division under the Professional Fighters League banner. Five of her seven victories have come inside the distance.

She most recently captured the promotion’s lightweight tournament with a decision win over UFC veteran Larissa Pacheco. Colorado’s King enters the bout riding a three-fight winning streak that includes two submission victories. The 27-year-old most recently submitted fellow Invicta alum Audrey Wolfe in December. She also holds wins over Holli Logan and Colbey Northcutt.

Harrison is set to return in 2021 when the PFL returns and chase another title and million-dollar prize in the most innovative and fastest growing league in the world.
