Smackdown Live: 8 pm EST

WWE Champion Kofi Kingston comes out to be interviewed by Michael Cole. They talk about Kofi’s WrestleMania moment, winning the title, and the crowd chants “You deserve it!” Then they talk about how Kevin Owens double-crossed him last week. Kofi says that people told him he should have seen this coming. But he believes people should be given the chance to change. Kofi believed he could change, but that was not the case. All Owens needed to do was ask if he wanted a title shot, Kofi says. Owens told Kofi, as he was stepping on his head, that he was doing it for the title. And Kofi says that Owens should get that shot at Money In The Bank.

Owens’ music hits and he comes out to the main stage. He tells Kofi, “Challenge accepted.” Owens admits Kofi did give the WWE Universe an amazing WrestleMania moment. But Kofi is not championship material, Owens says. As Owens is talking, Xavier Woods runs out to attack Owens for his insult but Owens leaves him laid out in the aisle with a superkick and then runs away. Kofi runs to his friend’s aid and helps him up.

Smackdown Tag Team Champions The Hardy Boyz come out to the ring. The interviewer asks Jeff Hardy about his apparent injury, and they show a clip of Lars Sullivan’s attack on them. Jeff says he’s unable to walk on his own because of Sullivan, and he’s going to be out of action for “long time.” Matt Hardy reluctantly says that they will have to vacate the tag titles as a result. Jeff says it kills him that he’s the reason they can’t even defend the title, but adds that they will be back.

Lars Sullivan’s music hits and he comes out with a vicious look on his face. He knocks Matt out of the ring and then turns his sights to Jeff. Matt manages to get back in the ring and prevent Sullivan’s approach. Once again, Sullivan turfs Matt out of the picture. Sullivan turns to Jeff, who now holds his crutch in hand ready to swing. But then R-Truth appears from behind and lands a chair shot to Sullivan’s back. Sullivan merely seems slightly annoyed by this, and he punches the chair clean out of Truth’s hands. Then he batters Truth and leaves a trail of bodies behind him as he takes his leave.

As usual, Shane gets the ring announcer to announce him as “The best in the world.” Shane tells Reigns he had some audacity putting hands on the owners of the land of WWE.

Reigns tells Shane to come do something about it. Shane replies that he has to prepare for his cage match against Miz at MITB. But he brings out the B-Team to face Reigns in a handicap match. Kevin Owens comes out to the ring for an edition of The Kevin Owens Show. He cuts a promo about how Kofi Kingston is in over his head as WWE Champion, and he is certain that he will take that title from Kofi at MITB. Owens then invites Xavier Woods to come out to the ring and implores him not to let the altercation from earlier tonight dissuade him from coming out there. Woods does not appear and Owens says he has a backup plan. He pulls out an Xavier Woods action figure and mockingly interviews the toy.

Kofi Kingston ends up coming out and charges to the ring. The two men start to brawl all around the ring area. Kofi gets the better of the exchange and Owens cuts and runs, escaping through the crowd. Kofi talks trash vigorously from the ring as the show comes to a close.
