Jericho & Omega Almost Joined Impact Wrestling

‘- By now, we all know that Chris Jericho has signed with All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and Kenny Omega is likely to follow suit. But, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted how both were close to signing with Impact Wrestling. The enticing offer from Impact Wrestling would see both only work around 30 dates per year and also have some creative control.

Earlier in the month, AEW held a rally which concluded with Jericho appearing and announcing that he signed with the upstart promotion. He would call the deal the best he has ever signed. While Jericho was talking with WWE only weeks before, he decided to take part of the wrestling revolution. Besides working for AEW, Jericho can still wrestle on his cruise and return to New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW). 

Omega is still under contact with NJPW until the end of the month. Once February 1 rolls around, do not be surprised to see AEW confirm Omega as their latest signing. 

Impact Wrestling was not able to sign two of the biggest stars not under contract to WWE, but they were close. It was a good move by Impact Wrestling that almost worked. 

– When it comes to the Royal Rumble match, one of the best moments is seeing surprise entrants. With several slots still open in both the men and women’s match, that means some surprises are likely. According to Wrestle Votes, Kurt Angle, Bray Wyatt and Velveteen Dream have been discussed. 

Angle recently made a surprise appearance at a live event, where he wrestled Baron Corbin. Wyatt has not been on TV in months since Matt Hardy took a leave of absence. As for NXT’s Velveteen Dream, he did not work much of the last tapings and is not booked for Takeover Phoenix.
