Jose Aldo was the target of Conor McGregor’s trash talking in the past, and perhaps not surprisingly, the legend says Khabib Nurmagomedov shouldn’t be blamed for the post-fight brawl at UFC 229.
Since Nurmagomedov submitted McGregor at UFC 229, and proceeded to jump the cage to go after Dillon Danis, there’s been plenty of debate regarding the incident’s causes. Leading up to the bout, McGregor’s verbal attacks weren’t restricted to Nurmagomedov’s abilities as a fighter, as he also targeted the champ’s father, in addition to historical and political issues.
“I understand the reaction of Khabib,” Aldo said. “No, it’s not his fault, we shouldn’t blame him for his actions because it’s the UFC letting McGregor do whatever he wants, in the past and here in New York. So it’s not Khabib’s fault. No time, no nothing for him.”
Aldo, meanwhile, is coming off a stoppage win over Jeremy Stephens in July. The Brazilian star faced McGregor in 2015, and following an intense lead up to their bout, he was quickly knocked out by the now, former champ.
